Actor Tommy Ford Dies at 52
Known for his roles on ‘Martin’ and ‘The Parkers,’ Actor Tommy Ford died after being taken off life support.The news was reported TMZ. Ford had been on life support after an aneurysm ruptured in his abdomen. Ford played Martin Lawrence’s best friend for all 5 seasons of the show.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Poster & Trailer Revealed
Disney releases the newest poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ahead of Thursday’s trailer debut. On Good Morning America on ABC, the newest Trailer debuted in which Jyn Erso leads a group of unlikely heroes to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters arrives on Dec. 16.
Chris Rock Stand-Up Specials Coming to Netflix
Via The Verge: Chris Rock will star in two new stand-up specials for Netflix, the streaming service announced Friday. This will mark Rock’s return to stand-up after an eight year hiatus. The deal bringing Rock to Netflix is worth $40 million, Variety says. The company reportedly outbidded Amazon, Hulu, and HBO for the rights to the as-yet-unnamed specials. No official date has been announced of when the specials will be filmed and available on Netflix.
Activists And Entertainers Star in Powerful Police Violence PSA
Via Indiewire: Civil rights activist Harry Belafonte released a social justice short film, titled “Against the Wall,” highlighting police brutality towards African Americans. Directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, the video features stars like Michael B. Jordan, Danny Glover, Michael K. Williams, and many others, forced against a wall, as audio of police calls and shooting incidents play in the background.
Stars Come Together To Pay Tribute to Prince
On Thursday Night (10/13), musicians took the stage at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul to pay their respects to Prince. Tyka Nelson, Prince’s sister, spoke at the tribute. Performers included Doug E. Fresh, Bilal, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan. The latter performed “1999” together.

Via Billboard: Marvel Comics continues to pay homage to hip-hop with its latest set of variants, debuting exclusively on Billboard. For their forthcoming releases, Marvel grabs inspiration from Nas‘ 2012 album Life is Good for The Amazing Spider-Man, Dr. Dre‘s 2015 quasi-soundtrack Compton for Black Panther: World of Wakanda and Missy Elliott‘s 2002 gem Under Construction for Invincible Iron-Man.
Murs Sets World Record For Longest Rap Marathon
Los Angeles rapper Murs set the world record for longest recorded rap session. The session aired as a part of the season finale for the series “Where You AT? LA” with Boost Mobile. , Murs rapped more than 24 hours straight (with a five minute break for every hour). He performed his own tracks as well as other popular rap songs from Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest and Wu-Tang Clan.

Chicago Officials Agree to Recognize Live Music As Art
What can only be described as head scratching, since August, Cook County, the municipality that includes Chicago, has been debating whether Rap, Country, Rock, and Electronic music are considered art. Reported by Pitchfork an agreement has been reached that would recognize live music and DJ sets as art forms. Cook County Commissioner John Fritchey stated, ““This agreement makes it clear that it was never the intent of the Administration for the County to play culture police and make decisions on what is, or isn’t, music or art, and that fact is bolstered by President Preckwinkle’s desire to co-sponsor my amendment. ”
