Revelations Entertainment is going to develop a new docuseries based on the life of Rodney King. Revelations Entertainment is headed by Morgan Freeman & Lori McCreary. The company is best known for producing “Madam Secretary” & “The Story of God”.
The untitled Rodney King project will feature 20 hours of newly discovered, never-before-seen footage, filmed over a 12-year period before King’s death in 2012. Footage includes many of king’s surviving family members; his his daughters, brother, sister, and his first wife as well as his attorneys. Many will be appearing on camera for the first time.
McCreary says the plan is to pitch the series to networks in the coming weeks — “the usual suspects, A&E, Amazon, CNN, HBO and Netflix” while targeting a 2018 release date.
