Sydney, Australia’s Singer/songwriting brother duo, Marvell (Max and Tom) is back with their self-titled debut EP following the release of their single, “I Remember”. The EP contains four totals songs including the aforementioned, , “I Remember” and three new tracks. Marvell presents a clean acoustic sound with tight production in which the vocals really take the lead. Vocals taking the lead is what Max described when he stated, “ We aim to have catchy melodies and great vocal hooks“. Marvell is more about the thought behind the music than necessarily the music itself, not to say that the music isn’t quality. In actuality I would have liked to have seen more songs on the EP. While there are a few different definitions of an EP, Marvell falls in line with the standard of containing three to five songs or under 30 minutes. Either way the addition of one or two more songs would have been welcomed. Marvell follows a successful formula for the band in that, “each song is a different story and it gives emotional influences”. That “emotional influence” can be heard in their messages and tone including Tom with his more raw and explosive voice and Max’s softer more say polished vocals. These emotions are also felt by those listening. In all evokes various memories and mental states pending on the situations/experiences that come to mind when you hear each song.
Now that the EP is out, Max and Tom are working on doing a lot more touring as, “We like meeting people who love our music, so now that we are out of the studio we are really excited to get on the road. Our shows will be a combination of us as a duo and others with our band.
