It was only a matter of time before we took “The Resurgence of The Girl Groups” series to the West Coast. In this edition we focus on two of music’s biggest cities known for producing lasting girl groups, Houston, TX (Destiny’s Child) and Los Angeles, CA (The Pussycat Dolls/The Bangles). One of the feature in this edition is more of a hip hop group than they are a traditional female vocal group much in a similar vein to Salt-N-Pepa. It is no coincidence that this hip hop trio from Houston is signed and managed by the same man who made Destiny’s Child a household name, Matthew Knowles. Only time will tell if these ladies have the same staying powers as those who came before them.
Blushhh Music: (B)eauty (L)ives (U)nder (S)toned (HHH)earts is based out of Houston, TX. They are signed to Mathew Knowles’ Music World Entertainment. Blushhh brings a style not seen too often. The group is made up of two rappers, Sunni and Bunni Ray, and one vocalist, Tali. Blushhh is adamant that they are not a girl group, but rather a Hip Hop trio. They’ve been together for almost six years. The ladies have been in artist development with Mr. Knowles for going on two years after being discovered at a Music World showcase. They are set to release a video for their single, “Old School’s Back,” soon along with dropping their album, Old School Hip Hop Past, Present, and Future. in June.
