In a city known for producing country’s biggest stars, stands an alternative rock band showing that, “There are plenty of other genres in Nashville to love”; Darling Parade. The band includes Kristin Kearns on lead vocals, Casey Conrad on the drums along with Nate McCoy and Dustin McCoy on lead guitar and bass respectively. Beginning in 2007, Darling Parade has been hard at work showing a side of Music City, USA that many aren’t familiar with, but will soon find out about.
They have found success including winning numerous awards and going on tours with people they see as truly influential to them, but with that has also come many obstacles. While the set backs they have gone through would make most people quit chasing their dreams, Darling Parade has grown to appreciate everything about the road, home, and their friends and family. They realize that everything they have gone through as a group as only made them stronger and more determined at the end of the day. All these actions led to, “Battle Scars & Broken Hearts” (2013), Darling Parade’s most recent and distinctive LP to date.
“Battle Scars & Broken Hearts” was funded in part due to a successful Kickstarter campaign. With their fans support, they saw that they could actually pull off their album and they continue to show support for those backers year later. Even with the culmination of backer success, “Battle Scars & Broken Hearts” wouldn’t have lived up to its name if there weren’t trails and tribulations along the way. It’s an album described as, “A theme of overcoming struggles and your weakest moments while rising above them.” Through overcoming the obstacles that presented themselves prior to working on the album they harnessed their energy to produce some truly in-depth and intimate content. It hasn’t all been disappointing times for as they’ve experienced opportunities that only come around once in a lifetime.
The band has shared the stage with some people they can truly call an influence such as Chevelle, whom they have admired for years. They even got to experience their first tour with Cassadee Pope when she went out on her first tour. They can only describe these experiences as a dream come true that taught them many things about the industry and themselves as artist. Never being ones to rest on their laurels, Darling Parade is, “always writing, working, and planning as they have big intentions for the future and are just making sure they are in the right place to take the next leap.”
Within the upcoming year, their friends and fans have a lot to look forward to. They have a few songs recorded already and there are plans of a possible tour in the future. There is no telling what the future holds for Darling Parade, but it will more than likely bring experiences they’ll always cherish.
