Via Variety: Aloe Blacc has signed on to the new documentary, America’s Treasures, as he explores American culture through the story of its music. In the film Blacc “travels across the country , meeting with other musicians and innovators and exploring the locales and cultures where America’s music was born”. Aloe Blacc visits New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit and New York City among other locales. The doc will feature stories on Louis Armstrong, Dr. John, Ramsey Lewis, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Irma Thomas and others.
America’s Treasures is the working title of the film and is set to be released to giant-screen theaters in February. The film is produced by MacGillivray Freeman while being directed by Greg MacGillivray.
“America’s Treasures celebrates the unique diversity of cultures and creative risk-taking that characterize our nation, as expressed through our music,” stated Greg MacGillivray. “We chose Aloe Blacc as our guide for this film as he embodies the creativity and trailblazing spirit that make American music such a treasured experience around the world.
